Healing Intergenerational Trauma

Our 2024 Healing Retreat was a success!

We’re excited to celebrate the success of our recent annual retreat, Healing Intergenerational Trauma, held September 5-8, 2024, in sunny Sacramento, CA. Exonerees, family members, and loved ones from near and far came together to create a space dedicated to healing and connection, focusing on restoring and strengthening relationships affected by wrongful convictions.

Participants engaged in sessions designed to foster healing conversations and transformative listening, which encouraged deeper understanding of the experiences and impacts of wrongful conviction on each individual. These sessions not only emphasized communication skills but also nurtured empathy and mutual support among participants.

We incorporated restorative practices, music, and tai chi to help explore and address intergenerational trauma in holistic ways. During free time, attendees enjoyed live music, comedy, and shared meals, further enhancing community bonds.

As we closed the retreat, there was a shared sentiment of commitment to strengthening and expanding this network as a vital source of support for one another. Together, we are building a resilient community dedicated to healing and growth.

Shout out to all who joined – it was great to meet those coming to their first retreat with us AND so good to see those who’ve attended in the past. We were happy to hear all the positive feedback for how meaningful and helpful this gathering was for you.

Participant Testimonials:

Extremely grateful to our facilitators Ernest Mark and Greg Hodge, who not only bring incredible skill and knowledge to the development of our retreat programming, but also hold such great enthusiasm and dedication for making a positive impact within the exoneree community.
