Inaugural Women's Retreat Recap

Exonerated Nation hosted its first-ever retreat dedicated to women exonerees:

Rising Beyond Injustice by Raising Our Voices Together – A Healing Space for Women Exonerees

May 22-25, 2025, exonerated and freed women gathered for the retreat to reclaim their voices, heal in community, and reimagine leadership on their own terms. From grounding sound baths to powerful story circles, every moment centered feminine authenticity, safety, and strength.

Why does this matter? Though only 9% of exonerees are women, their challenges are uniquely complex. Over 70% were convicted of crimes that never even happened. Many return home to broken family ties, lost custody, and deep trauma, with few resources designed for their healing.

This retreat was a vital reminder: Justice must meet women where they are—rooted in care, community, and restoration.

Special thanks to Kaiser Permanente for supporting this space of healing and possibility.
